Mildred Frances Hahn Brant, Michigan
Passed away Sunday, Dec 23, 2018 at Union Court in St. Charles, MI, aged 96 years. Mildred Frances Graul was born March 10, 1922 in Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona to the late William Graul and Leela (Kinnear). After graduating high school, she obtained her nursing degree from the University of Arizona. When the U.S. entered World War II, she enlisted in the army as a nurse in February of 1942 and was stationed in California. While there, she met Howard Hahn, an Army B-24 bomber pilot, and they were married September 12, 1944 in Tucson, Arizona. After they were discharged, they returned to the Hahn family farm in Brant, MI, and lived briefly in Elgin, IL while Howard learned the dairy farming trade. Mildred continued nursing in private practice until she retired in 1987. Over the years she enjoyed quilting, music, playing the violin and lap dulcimer, and was a member of several different music groups in Michigan and Florida including the Silver Strings Dulcimer Band; she was also an avid horseshoe and billiards player. A member of the M-46 Horseshoe Players Assoc, the Brant Home Extension Club and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her children Alan Hahn, Brant, MI; Susan ( Bernie) Brands, Sioux Falls, SD; David Hahn, Keaau, HI; six grandchildren, Robin Jacobson, Debbie Loe, Kristy Barrigar, Kelly Stimpson, Ann Puehl, Kahili Hahn; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hahn in 2006 and a daughter Diane Reynolds in 2007, a son-in-law, Donald Reynolds and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hahn.
The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018, at the Nelson United Methodist Church, 5950 S. Hemlock Road, Hemlock. Rev. Michael Vollmer will officiate with Military burial in the Brant Cemetery under the auspices of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post #7302. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018 and then at the church from 9:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral service.
