Nancy Jane Holmes of Elsie, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Pathway Home of Elsie. She was 84 years old. The daughter of the late Arlin and Marie (Petty) Lounsbery, Nancy (Lounsbery) Holmes was born on September 9, 1937, in Saginaw, Michigan. She retired from Saginaw Township Community Schools after 38 years of teaching. Nancy was a life-long member of Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed coffee with the ladies, camping at Interlochen, reading, traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her special bunch, who at times could drive her bananas. She will forever be remembered for her nurturing and giving heart, her selflessness to those in need, and for truly living a remarkable life always protecting those she loved.

Surviving are a daughter, Becky (Doug) Holmes-Bukantis and their children: Brandon, Parker, Hunter, and Hadley; daughter Kathy Gonzales and her children: Anthony (Emily) and Arlin; brother, Richard (Carol) Lounsbery; former spouse, Darrell Holmes; brother- and sister-in-law, R.J. (Betty) Holmes. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Vernita Lounsbery; son-in-law, Anthony Gonzales; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Elder Guy Bennett will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit the family at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
