Nanette “Su” Harvell of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. She was 68 years old. Nanette Su Harvell was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Hazen Cuyler and Jean Alta (Gettel) Plonta. She attended Arthur Hill High School and later Delta College and received her Associates Degree in Nursing. Su married Michael Wayne Harvell on March 26, 1994, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock; he survives her. She was employed as a registered nurse with St. Mary’s of Michigan Hospital working in various nursing roles, teaching their paramedic courses, and also worked in flight care. While living in Virginia, Su worked for Sentara Healthcare. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock. Su enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and friends, and spending time on her farm tending to her chickens. She was gifted musically and loved playing her baby grand piano. Above all, she treasured and cherished her family. Though she could be stubborn, Su had a heart of gold. She will leave her indelible mark in this world through her kindness, empathy, and compassion for all people.
Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Michael Wayne Harvell of Saginaw; three sons: Peter (Sheila) Salo of Hemlock; Gary (Megan) Salo of Saginaw; Benjamin Salo of Saginaw; six grandchildren: Kyler, Kendra, Klaira, Brooklyn, Bristol, and Brynn Salo; parents, Hazen and Jean Plonta; brother, Terry Plonta of Steamboat Springs, CO; sister, Cheryl Plonta of Hemlock. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a niece.
A funeral service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the W.L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Richard E. Mundt will officiate. Honoring Su’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
