Nathan Scott Hegenauer, 33 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 24th, 2024.
The son of Scott Hegenauer and Jill Hegenauer, Nathan was born on November 25, 1990, in Saginaw. Nathan graduated from Hemlock High School in 2009 and then went to the University of Michigan, where he received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts focusing on informatics with social networking. He was a proud member of the marching band as a high-stepping sousaphone player and an enthusiastic fan during the football games at the Big House.
Nathan was a tenderhearted soul who, most of all, enjoyed time with family and friends. Anyone who truly knew Nathan, knew he loved board games and video games, and he could rarely be beaten. He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting camp, and visiting his sister Christa, with whom he was very close.
Nathan was a good cook, and an even better baker. He loved making bread with his lifelong friend Matt and brought delicious cakes to many family gatherings. He also spent countless hours talking and sharing meals with his best friends from college, Saul and Dave.
Nathan is preceded in death by his grandmother Reta Hegenauer and uncle Greg Murphy. He is survived by his father Scott Hegenauer (Pauline Tallon), mother Jill Hegenauer (Ray Wardin), sister Christa Hegenauer, and brother-in-law Adam Scanlon. Also surviving him are grandparents Jack and Dixie Hegenauer, and Dean and Joyce Murphy, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N River Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Honoring Nathan’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Hemlock Music Program, or the non-profit organization Major Chords for Minors.
