Neil McDonald Lottridge Alma, Michigan Formerly of Saginaw Passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Masonic Pathways, Alma. Age 83 years. The son of the late Bertha (Barber) and Neil McDonald Sr. was born January 25, 1931 in Springfield, Ohio. He received his Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Cincinnati University and his Master Degree from Wayne State University. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. While stationed in Japan, Neil married Ruth Adele Schaefer, March 17, 1955. She passed away March 12, 1997. He later married Joyce Stuart Humphrey, November 14, 2000. She survives him. Neil joined General Motors, Central Foundry Division, in 1953, retiring in 1987 with thirty-two years of service. During his career he held eleven patents and authored a number of technical papers. He was named Engineer of the Year by Mid-Michigan Section of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was a member of the American Foundrymen's Society, American Society of Metals. He served on the board of directors of the Saginaw Valley ASM Chapter. Neil had been a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Saginaw, and First Presbyterian Church, Alma. He was a member of the Alma Masonic Lodge #244 F an avid golfer and Ohio State Football Fan, enjoyed the Detroit Tigers, baseball and dogs. He enjoyed his cottage on Higgins Lake, winters in Bradenton Florida. Surviving besides his wife, Joyce, are a son and daughter, Carol Ann Smith, Saginaw, MI; David Neil Lottridge, Grand Rapids, MI; two grandsons, Mark G. Smith Jr.; Bryan J. Smith; a sister, Rosamay Schley; a nephew, Michael Schley and a niece, Susan Schmidt; his step-children, Douglas and Doreen Humphrey; Nicholas and Bobbie Sherlock; Dean and Wendy Humphrey; a step-son-in-law, Ken Sherlock; his step-grandchildren Amanda and Faith Humphrey; Steve and Katie Sanchez; Nathan Humphrey; Jordan, Christopher and Nicholas Sherlock; Garrett, Samantha, Victoria and Noelle Humphrey; his step-great grandchildren, Kiena and Blake Sherlock; Hannah Humphrey, Rylan Dawn Sherlock. A step-daughter, Dawn Sherlock has predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at Noon Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Robert Lakey will officiate with entombment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
