Norma Jean Brown of Merrill, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Merrill Fields Assisted Living. She was 86 years old. Norma Jean Miller was born on January 9, 1936, in Merrill, Michigan, to the late Norman and Alice (Nye) Miller. She graduated 1954 at Sacred Heart High School. She married Jerry Lee Brown on June 9, 1956; he survives her. Norma was a lifelong and faithful member of St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served on the finance committee. She had a heart of gold and believed in serving others by volunteering for her community. Norma served on the Merrill Village Council, Merrill Election Board, Merrill Building Code Authority, and Merrill Library Board. Norma was an avid reader and was proud to work as a librarian for Merrill District Library. Above all, she loved and cherished spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Jerry L. Brown of Merrill; daughter, Lori Ackett of Frankenmuth; Mark (Jill) Brown of Katy, TX; three grandchildren: Patrick (Kristina) Brown of Katy, TX; Kristyn Brown of Denver, CO; Christopher Ackett of Northville; two great-grandchildren: Kinley and Brady Brown of Katy, TX. Also surviving are many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Alice Miller; an infant brother, James Miller.
A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 419 S. Midland Street, Merrill, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
