Norman "Brud" Alfred Scheffler

Norman “Brud” Alfred Scheffler of National City, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was 92 years old. Brud was born on March 3, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Crandall) Scheffler. He was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School. Following graduation, Brud honorably served his country as an MP with the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Susan Jane Leaym, on October 16, 1954; she survives him. Brud briefly worked as a carpenter and as a car salesman, but eventually became a machine repairman at Wright-K Technology, retiring with over 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. What he loved the most was to be a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. An avid outdoorsman, Brud loved spending time hunting and fishing, and the peace and excitement it brought to his life. He will forever be remembered lovingly for always asking “you know what?”, for his wonderful sense of humor and his innate ability to tease others, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 70 years, Susan J. Scheffler of National City; three sons: Robert Scheffler of Hale; Richard Scheffler and his girlfriend, Jen Wachner of Saginaw; Daniel (Lori) Scheffler of Alpena; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Scheffler of Birch Run; six grandchildren: Cheri (Jason) Sites; Teresa Scheffler; Kristin (Mike) Trim; Adrianne (Brian) Maiden; Kya (Espiridion) Villarreal; Jason (Nicolette) Scheffler; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Scheffler of Frankenmuth; three double first cousins, Susan “Sue” Musial; Jack (Loretta) Leaym; Brian (Karen) Leaym. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Margaret Scheffler; parents, Alfred and Elizabeth Scheffler; four sisters and two brother: Geraldine (Junior) Bolger; Walter “Sonny” Scheffler; Bernice (Carl) Amy; Norma “Sis” (Vernon) Irish; Dora (Jack) Leaym, Dale (Mary) Scheffler.
