Norman B. Carr of Merrill, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, at the age of 90 years. Norman was born on April 11, 1934, in Weidman, Michigan, the son of the late Elton Charles and Blanch Mable (Kent) Carr. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953, until his honorable discharge in 1956. Norman married Rhea L. Billsby on October 10, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant; she survives him. He was employed as a tool and die maker with General Motors, retiring after 32 years of loyal and dedicated service. Norman was a longtime and faithful member of Four Points United Methodist Church in Hemlock, where he was also an usher. He civically served his community as a life member of VFW Post 7302, American Legion Post 295, and volunteered 23 years on the Jonesfield/Lakefield Township Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Rhea L. Carr; a daughter, Melissa (Matthew) Wesener; two grandsons: Cole Wesener and Tanner Wesener. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton C. and Blanch M. Carr; two sisters: June (Doyle) Plank; Ruth (Steve) Simmer; and a brother, Dalton (Judy) Carr.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI, 48609. Pastor Rob Richards will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United State Army, VFW Post 7302, and American Legion 295. Burial will follow at Chippewa Township Cemetery in Shepherd, Michigan. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to VFW Post 7302 and American Legion Post 295.
