Norman Joseph Lange Merrill, Michigan Passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. Age 87 years. The son of the late Edward Lange was born January 10, 1930 in Merrill, Michigan. He married Barbara Joyce Fuhrman, April 24, 1954. She passed away January 28, 2015. Norman served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a life member of the Breckenridge American Legion Post #295 and the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post #7302. He was employed by International Harvester in Wheeler, B&W Coop and retired from Wieland International in Saginaw. He was a member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church. He was very active in the Breckenridge area community, serving as Wheeler Township Supervisor, on the Gratiot County Equalization Review Board and for 17 years on the Breckenridge School Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He spent time at his property on Elbow Lake for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Upper Peninsula and Alaska. Surviving are a daughter, a son and daughter-in-law, Kristi Marie Bacon; Robert and Mary Lange; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, two sisters, Robert Lange, Ann Johnston, Marion Fuhrman, Daniel and Carl Lange. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill with Military burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge under the auspices of the Breckenridge American Legion Post #295. Friends may call at the Chapel in Merrill from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday.
