Olgerts Skostins, 91, of Midland, MI, passed away on December 25, 2017 at Woodland Hospice House in Mount Pleasant, MI. Olgerts was born September 29, 1926 in Riga, Latvia to the late Janis and Marta (Simanis) Skostins. He married his wife of 50 years, Rita, on July 9, 1967. Olgerts retired from the Dow Corning Corporation in 1992 after 26 years of service as a senior technologist in TS&D, where he co-authored many patents in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Olgerts enjoyed gardening, theater, opera, and politics, and was a member of the Saginaw Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church. Olgerts is survived by his wife, Rita; children Ligita Wendt, Pauls Skostins, Astra Ware and Lara Browne; as well as his grandchildren Kaija and Drake Browne, Maija and Lija Wendt, Krista Ware, and Alissa (Derek) Vanderploeg. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Biruta Puike Wilson will officiate.
