Passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at her home. Age 83 years. The daughter of the late Rumaldo and Nieves (Aquirre) Gomez was born July 4, 1931 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She married Raymond Hernandez, June 2, 1951. He passed away June 4, 2008. She owned and operated the Las Palmas Restaurant and had been employed by Wilcox Studio and as a bi-lingual teacher. She was a member of Calvary Community Church. She was an avid Detroit Tiger Baseball fan but most of all loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Surviving are six children and their spouses, Rosemary Lopez; Robert and Brenda Hernandez; David and Sylvia Hernandez; Richard and Sue Hernandez; Andrew Hernandez Sr. and Jennifer; Edward Hernandez and Brad Gosen; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Jesse and Juanita Gomez; several sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, one of whom is a very special niece, Rebecca Chacon. She was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Mariano, Emilo, Manuel, Lupe, Victor, Eva and Sulema. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Hwy. Rev. Ted Doolittle will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
