Prinz, Owen W. Saginaw, MI
Passed away peacefully on December 24, 2012, at his home at the age of 89. The son of the late Edward and Lavinia (Owen) Prinz was born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 8, 1923. He married his high school sweetheart Irene M. King on February 9, 1946. She predeceased him December 13, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 751st Tank Bn. As a Tank Commander. He made two invasions in Italy at Salarno and Anzio. He was awarded many awards and citations. He was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Sargent in October 1945, which he was most proud of. He retired from St. Mary's of Michigan. Owen was a Master Mason at Salina Lodge 155 F and AM. He was a member of American Legion Post #439. He is survived by his faithful companion "Buffy"; a daughter, Dedra (Tom) Siebert; granddaughters, Shannon (Mike) Betz, Randi (Eric) Hall, Tonya (Kevin) Keilitz; grandsons, Corey, Kyle (Meghan), and Tyler Prinz; great-grandchildren, Haley and Blake Betz, Ryder Owen Keilitz; and sister-in-law, Jean King; and four estranged children. He was predeceased by his parents; 2 brothers, Edward Jr. and Billie; and his sister Marion Reynolds. The family would like to thank Joann (Dale) Reetz, Tricia Yent, Bob and Billy Weidenmiller; and special friend Bill Richard. In accordance with Owen's wishes, private family services have taken place. Rev. Kenneth Parker officiated with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of American Legion Post #439.
