Passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2022. Age 67 years.
She was born to parents Patricia A. (Rasmer) and Gerald S. Toporski, on August 10, 1955, in Bay City, Michigan.
Pam graduated from Bay City Central in 1973. She met Gerald R. Cass in August of 1982 and they were married on June 20, 1987 in Bay City, Michigan. He survives her along with four beautiful children, Jennifer Cass (Ricky Ayala) of Dade City, FL, Jonathan (Jasmyn) Cass of Saginaw, MI, Joshua Cass (Paige Callahan) of Seattle, WA and Jessica (Chase) Niblock, of White Pigeon, MI. Pam loved her children unconditionally and was so proud to be their mother. She was even more excited to welcome her first granddaughter arriving in a few weeks. She is also survived by her siblings, John (Mary Jo) Toporski of Essexville, MI, Joel (Denise) Toporski of Munger, MI, and Janelle Tacey (Jeff Hale) of Munger, MI. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald S. Toporski, her mother, Patricia A. Toporski, and her nephew, Gerald P. Toporski.
Pamela worked as a manager at K-Mart for many years. She then became a stay-at-home mom, which was her dream job. In 2000, Pam began working at the Saginaw ISD Transitions Center as a Paraprofessional. She later transitioned to working with younger students at the Melvin G. Millet Learning Center. Pam was a strong advocate for her students and loved them as if they were her own.
Pam enjoyed camping, floating in the pool, and spending time with family. Some of her favorite vacations included trips to Burt Lake State Park to enjoy time laughing, playing cards and gathering around the campfire with her brothers, sister, the Cass kids and cousins. The memories of those simple times meant the world to her. While her kids were growing up, she took in their friends as if they were her own. They were her extended “family” and her infectious laugh and big hugs were a blessing to all. She always provided a shoulder to lean on or a willing ear to listen to anyone she met.
Everyone that knew Pam, knew that she had a desire to live life as a truly good person. She lived simply and loved deeply. She always strived to provide encouragement and good advice to all in order to better their lives. Some of Pam’s favorite sayings were “Everything happens for a reason” and “You never know what tomorrow may bring.” She also taught her children that “Life was not about being rich, being popular, or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble, and kind.” Pam lived her life in just that way and her children and all those that loved her will never forget her or the life lessons that she lived.
