Pastor Katherine “Kathy” Ann Penney

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at her home. At the age of 76 years. The daughter of the late George Benjamin and Madeline (Clemens) Woolever, Kathy was born on November 29, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan. Kathy graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1961. Throughout her life, Kathy was musically gifted and was able to play any instrument and maintained holding first chair throughout concert and marching band. She continued with her passion in music playing the organ for church, she also founded a popular music group and polka band, the Alley Cats. Kathy’s greatest love in life was her faith in Christ. In 2002, her spiritual journey led her to become a Pastor within the Nazarene Church.
Surviving are one daughter and one son: Mary Katherine (Glen Mack) Henne; Chris (Amy) Penney; two grandchildren: Wesley David (Taylor) Jennings II; Christopher Allen Henne; two great-grandchildren: Colie Mersdorf; Landon Mersdorf; a faithful life-long friend: Ellen Draper; a special friend: Steve Henne; and her furry cat companion: Sammy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides her parents, Pastor Kathy was preceded in death by her sister: Joan Hecht; and her brother: Robert Woolever.
Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Rev. John Obrecht will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020, and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral chapel. Due to the Worldwide Health Pandemic, State guidelines will be followed. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the First Church of the Nazarene or the family’s wishes.
