Patrick “Pat” Gomez Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 75 years old. Patrick Gomez Jr. was born on July 30, 1945, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Patrick and Manuela (Hernandez) Gomez Sr. He was a proud 1966 graduate of T. L. Handy High School in Essexville, Michigan. Following graduation, Pat proudly served his country by enlisting Army serving during the Vietnam War; receiving his honorable discharge in 1969. He married the love of his life, Irene Garcia on November 8, 1969. Pat worked as a tinsmith with General Motors retiring with over 40 years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Pat was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a talented woodworker, specializing in lamps, benches, and shelves. Above all, Pat loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his enthusiasm for dancing, being an amazing family man, his energetic and youthful spirit, and his innate to connect with all people.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Irene Gomez of Saginaw; four sons: Patrick Gomez of Saginaw; Dominic (Angie) Gomez of Montrose; Daniel Gomez of Saginaw; Nicholas (Elizabeth) Gomez of Saginaw; nine grandchildren: Vanessa, Alexis, Kamryn, Chloe, Cassidee, Ava, Eliana, and Herman; seven great-grandchildren: Marcos, Lathicia, Marcelino, Arcelia, Ma’lena, Adalynn, and Carter; four brothers and two sisters: Robert (Jill) Gomez, James Gomez, Alex Gomez, Tony Gomez, Mary (Manuel) Rivera, and Karen Cook. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2020 at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Honoring Pat’s wishes cremation will follow the service. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Ordinance, building capacity is to 25 persons, face masks are required, social distancing encouraged.
