Paul F. Pfund

Pfund, Paul F. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved Husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 peacfully at home. He was 88 years old. The son of the late Louis A. Pfund and Otillie (Holl) Pfund. Paul was born in Saginaw on December 14, 1930, he was a graduate of Arthur Hill High class of 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1951- 1953 in the Korean War. Paul attended Bay City Junior College (Delta) where he earned an Associates Degree in Accounting. He married Catherine (Betty) Mead on June 14, 1952, she predeceased him on March 22, 2018. Paul worked for General Motors Central Foundry Division as an Accountant for 28 years, retiring in 1986. He was a faithful longstanding member of St. Dominics ( St. Stephens) Church where he sang with the church choir. Throughout his life Paul was an active member of various organizations, including; Big Brothers and Big Sisters, American Legion Post 439, Knights of Columbus, North Saginaw Township Little League and the Korean War Veterans Association. Paul enjoyed traveling, playing cards and watching sports, especially the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his four children; Virginia (Chuck) Belshaw, Barbara Putnam, David Pfund and Douglas (Kim Renso) Pfund. Paul is also survived by his three grandchildren; Natalie (Nicholas) Murray, Douglas Putnam, Stephanie Putnam, and four great grandchildren; Emily, Margaret, Katherine and Anne Murray. Paul was preceded in death by his brother James Fund, sister Carol Schafer and son- in- law Michael Putnam. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday September 12, 2019 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Military Honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post 7302 Hemlock- Merrill. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday September 11, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at W.L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, a vigil service followed by a time of sharing will take place at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also visit at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Honoring Pauls wishes cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Saginaw or to the Korean War Veterans Association (Scholarship Fund).
