Paul Joseph Bouleau Saginaw, Michigan Went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the age of 78 years. Paul was born November 21, 1937, in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Anna (DeLoreia) Bouleau. He married Roberta Helen Hinton on August 23, 1975. He attended LPN school, then continued on to RN school at McLean Hospital, Belmont, Mass. He was a private scrub at Mass General Hospital and OR supervisor at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Mass. In 1964, he entered the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and became an anesthetist. He became a major and graduated from anesthesia school at Madigan General Hospital in the state of Washington. He served in Vietnam as a MASH educational instructor and was awarded the Army Commendation Award. He went into seminary in California and worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at St. Mary Desert Valley Hospital, in Apple Valley, California. Paul came to St. Luke's Hospital in Saginaw, MI, in October of 1971. He was president of the Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthesia for two terms, 1984-1985 and 1990-1991, and was a board member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesia. Paul was the first nurse anesthetist employed at St. Luke's Surgicare, in May of 1986. Surgicare opened in February of 1986. He worked 32 years and semi-retired in January 2003. Paul was a member of the Saginaw Valley Orchid Society. He enjoyed working in his own greenhouse raising orchids. Paul was a charter member of Family Baptist Church, where he designed/crafted the stained glass windows. He also served as a deacon and church treasurer for many years. Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roberta (Hinton) Bouleau; brother, David Bouleau of Burlington, Vermont; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Konnie Hinton; nephews, Chad (Amanda) Hinton and Jason (Gretchen) Hinton; and great-nephew, Michael Hinton. He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret and Janet. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Stanley Dulaney and Dr. Charles Smith will co-officiate with private burial in Croswell Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
