Penny Sue Reimers of Saginaw, Michigan, never met a slot machine or casino she didn’t love. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 78 years old. Penny Sue DeShone was born on May 29, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Marshall Verne and Leona Mae (Loranger) DeShone. She was a proud 1964 graduate of Saginaw High School. She met her husband of 56 years, William Charles Reimers, as they grew up across the street from one another. They were united in marriage on July 17, 1965. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2021. Penny was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was employed by Horizon’s Conference Center, retiring after nearly 20 years. Penny was creative and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and crafting. She was outgoing, social, and will be forever remembered as a tough, tenacious fighter.
Surviving are two daughters and their spouses: Sherry and John LaDouce of Freeland; Melissa Reimers and Greg Schmidt of Freeland; two grandchildren: Morgan (Colin Dole) LaDouce of Midland; Zachary Schmidt of Lansing; three siblings: Patrick (Marcia Knapp) DeShone; Timothy (Colleen) DeShone; Tracy (John Niven) Underwood; sister-in-law, Tracy DeShone. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Reimers; parents, Marshall and Leona DeShone; five siblings: Ronald DeShone; Jean (Larry) Rutherford; Nancy Warner; William DeShone and Christopher DeShone.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Harmony Cares Hospice for their love and care.
