Steinke, Phyllis (Schneider) St. Charles, MI Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister went home to be with her Lord May 2, 2013, at the age of 84. Phyllis Julia Schneider was born January 29, 1929, in Saginaw the daughter of the late Leonard and Julia (Riley) Schneider. She married Harold W. Steinke on September 27, 1947. They shared 66 memorable years together; he survives her. Phyllis graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1947 and was a secretary for Montgomery Ward, Greyhound Food Management, Ken Abbe Agency, and retired from Republic Hogg Robinson in 1991. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church of Saginaw, MI where she sang in the choir for over 50 years, served as council member, and taught Sunday School and Catechism. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang for several weddings. She enjoyed summers at Houghton Lake, spending time with family and friends, reading and knitting. Surviving Phyllis is her loving husband Harold; their four children and spouses, David and Melanie Steinke of Port Ste. Lucie, FL, Karen and Michael Stumpfig of Gladwin, MI, Jill and Reagan Graham of South Lyon, MI; Scott and Marlee Steinke of Saginaw, MI; a dear niece Laura Hill of Bay City, MI; seven beloved grandchildren, Megan (Steinke) Dewar, Brennan Graham, Krista Steinke, George Stumpfig, Samantha (Stumpfig) Buck, Malorie and Jonathan Katch; two great-grandchildren, Lily Dewar and Phillip Stumpfig; three sisters, Shirley (Herb) Koch, Loretta (Kenneth) Brown, and Donna (James) McCargar; one brother, Robert (Barbara) Schneider; and many loving nieces, nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Leonard Schneider Jr. and David Schneider; and two sisters, Caroline Cooke and Marlene Hester. The family expresses a heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Hoyt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Advantage. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church 1209 Hancock of Saginaw, MI. Rev. Sue Hand will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may visit at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
