Randolph "Randy" Alan Good Sr.

Randolph Alan Good Sr. of Brant, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on Monday, October 19, 2020, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. He was 79 years old. Randolph Alan Good Sr. was born on May 16, 1941, in Marion Springs, Michigan to the late Kenneth Julius and Dorathea M. (Taylor) Good. He was a proud 1960 graduate of Ashley High School. Following graduation, Randy attended Spring Arbor University. He met the love of his life, Rosemarie Alvarez, while singing for local rest homes. They began dating, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 2, 1962, in Zilwaukee; she survives him. Randy was employed as a manager with Peet Packing Company in Chesaning, retiring after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. He also worked for a number of years as a well driller with Lacker Well Drilling. Upon his retirement, Randy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Saginaw Valley State University, an accomplishment he was proud to earn. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed: camping, fishing, kayaking, bonfires, horseback riding, and growing crops as a hobby farmer. Randy also had a passion for music. He loved singing, playing his harmonica, and guitar. Above all, Randy treasured and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, incredible patience, and for his thoughtful and loving soul.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Rosemarie Good of Brant; five children: Randy (Ann) Good Jr. of Merrill; Ken (Rebekah) Good of Grand Ledge; Jamey (Lisa) Good of Merrill; Greg (Karen) Good of Merrill; Gwendolyn May (Grant) Glazier of Merrill; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with two on the way; one brother and two sisters: Tom (Dea) Good, Nancy Smith, Sandra Gotham; sister-in-law, Irene Good; many cherished nieces and nephews; special friends too numerous to count including, Michael Erickson; and Ralph (Mina) Harris who was like a son.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Good; brother-in-law, Roy Smith.

A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill, Michigan. Workers for God Mark Peters, Thane Nelson, Ray Miller, and Greg Harger will officiate. Honoring Randy’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Merrill Community Schools.
