Ray was born September 7, 1930 in McQueeney, TX the son of Octaviano and Julia Garcia. Ray married his beautiful bride Maria Delaluz Garcia (Medina) on September 16th, 1948 they raised six children Virginia May (Gary), Rose Marie Garcia (who preceded him in death in 2012), Ruben Ray Garcia (Gloria), Christina Garcia, Robert Daniel Garcia (Mary Lou), Alicia Maria Okeley (Rob).

Faith, family, and fun were the pivotal essence of Ray’s life. He was honored to be the patriarch of his family which he learned to take the lead role when his beloved wife passed before him. Ray took on his role with strength and commitment. Ray started working when he was 10 years old, he later became employed with General Motors local 455 for 38 years while setting the standard of high work ethic.
He loved watching the Tigers with his sons and son-in laws and frequenting games. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and spending quality time with family and friends. Ray’s social calendar was always packed with family events, everyone wanting their Grandpa to make the date special.
The Lord tested Ray many times with obstacles that amazed all on how he not only recovered but with such robust vigor and resilience that we thought he would live beyond 100. He often said during his last 15 years living on his own that he was paying what he owes to GOD giving back to his family and exuding strength, what we all hope to emulate honoring his legacy. He will be greatly missed, but we all know that he is with his beautiful bride Maria Delaluz and his daughter Rose Marie.
