Raymond A. Harms Merrill, Michigan Passed away Monday, December 16, 2013, in the Farmhouse where he was born and lived his entire life. Age 96 years. The son of the late Louis and Mary (Bluemer) Harms was born October 24, 1917. He married Phyllis Arlene Nolan, September 22, 1945. She survives him. He engaged in farming all of his life. Raymond was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Iva; the Farm Bureau; he enjoyed his tractors and playing cards. In 2012, he was the oldest driver to cross the Mackinaw Bridge on his friend, Harry Corbat's tractor during the annual Tractor Parade. Surviving besides his wife Phyllis, are four daughters and their husbands, Monica and Denny Schaeffer; Marilyn and Larry Katt; Sue McCaw and her special friend, Dick Harness; Lynn and Bill Bucher; ten grandchildren, Eric McCaw; Christopher and Gina McCaw; Corey McCaw; Amanda and Dan Cassidy; Kari and Troy Lewis; Nicholas and Sarah Katt; Kasey Bucher and Ryan Brandt; Matthew and Erika Bucher; Trent Schaeffer and Jennifer Rowe; Colleen Schaeffer and Aaron Barnes; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Craig and Eleanor Crombez; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Lee Harms. A son-in-law, Barry Lynn McCaw, a great granddaughter, Taylor McCaw, five brothers, Albert, Norman, Louie, Elmer and Roy Harms; seven sisters, Esther Buchler, Margaret Craig, Marion Delaney, Carolyn Clore, Norine Kreger and Lucille Bobcean. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill. Rev. Paul A. Hauser will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel in Merrill from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Zion Lutheran Church, Hemlock or the charity of their choice.
