Raymond C. Sperling

Raymond passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 91 years. Raymond was born on June 14, 1933, son of the late Herman G. and Helena (Sommer) Sperling, in Saginaw. Raymond married Goldie Catherine Stone on August 30, 1958. She predeceased him on January 1, 2019. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and its Signal Corp, and also a member of the Saginaw Masonic Lodge #77, 32nd degree. Ray retired from Saginaw Steering Gear as an electrician with many years of dedicated service, and utilized those skills when volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Caring for animals and his hobby farm was one of his biggest joys. He loved spending time with his family and his dogs, Sophie and Molly.

Raymond is survived by his children, Linda (Roger) Brock, Rosalind “Roz” Landman, Russell Malicoat, Rev. Bruce (Penny) Malicoat and Charles (Tracie) Sperling; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Dale Benton, Jr. and son-in-law, Kasper Landman. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to Wellspring Hospice and the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center for the exceptional care given to Raymond. 

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 20, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. His son Rev. Bruce Malicoat and Pastor Mark Aurenhammer will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Saginaw County Care and Animal Control.
