Raymond G. Latvala

Passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
The son of the late William and Helen Latvala was born on August 17, 1932 in Houghton, MI. He graduated from Michigan Technological University and worked in several logging and mining companies in his beloved Copper Country until he entered the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War where he was stationed in Azores Islands. He married Barbara P. Sprietzer on June 26, 1954; she predeceased him on February 9, 2004. Raymond retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and wintering in South Padre Island, Texas. He enjoyed traveling to see family and friends.
Surviving are his children: Linda (Rick) Lange, Mark (Kathy) Latvala, Lori Ostrowski, grandchildren: Kyle, Josh, Jared Ostrowski, his sister: Jean Belkonen, his sister-in-law Kay Latvala, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother Bill Latvala.
Visitation for Raymond will take place on Monday, December 27, 2021 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 3:00-7:00 p.m. with private family burial at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Hemlock. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Legion Post 439.
