Tamm, Richard Carl Saginaw, MI Passed peacefully Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the age of 91. The son of the late Carl E. and Ester (Schering) Tamm, he was born March 21, 1927 in Chicago, IL He was the beloved husband of Colleen K. (Kotcher), who predeceased him on April 9, 2016; loving father to David C., daughter-in-law Candy of Houston, TX and James R., daughter-in-law Sally of Alexandria, VA; grandfather to Amanda L. (Keith) Wolf, David Tamm, Jr. and Shawna (Richard) Schneider of Houston, TX, and Stephen (Heidi) Tamm of Moscow, ID; and great grandfather to Mila and Elia Wolf. He leaves two sister in laws: Eunice and Viola Kotcher and many nieces and nephews. Richard attended schools in Chicago, IL, Louisville, KY, Kansas City, MO, and Needham, MA. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from the University of Maine in 1950 as a Mechanical Engineer. At Maine he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Tau Beta Pi Honorary Society, and won a letter in football. In 1950 he came to Saginaw to work for Wicks Boiler Co. After his marriage to Colleen on September 21, 1951, they moved to Boston, MA. They were residents also of Livonia, MI, Michigan City, IN, and the Philadelphia, PA area before returning to Saginaw in 1979. Dick was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, Deacon and a member of various committees. He was always active in social activities wherever he lived, be it president of civic association and swim club, cub master, and sang with Lake Fairways Choral Society of Ft. Myers, FL. He was a very successful business person and traveled world-wide as a marketing and sales manager for Honeywell International. Dick and Colleen traveled around the world. When their boys were growing up they visited most all the National Parks in the United States. His final thought was "It has been a good life." Funeral services will take place at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Jim Neumann will officiate with military honors rendered by American Legion Post 22 and the US Navy. Friends may visit with the family from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donors choice.
