Richard passed away peacefully at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center on November 18, 2020 at the age of 91 years. He was born on December 21, 1928 to the late Dorsey and Lucy (Tolfree) Davis in Flint, Michigan. Richard was raised by his very special aunt and uncle, Leola and Otto Lange after the passing of his mother when he was four. He married Loraine Johnson on October 22, 1949; she predeceased him on April 14, 1989.
Richard was employed as a truck driver for 29 years with Specter Freight. He retired in 1975. Richard’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards (especially pinochle), camping in Au Gres, Michigan and enjoying his winters in Sarasota, Florida. Above all he cherished his time spent with his family.
Richard is survived by his children: Richard (Patricia) Davis, Cheryl (John) Billings, grandchildren: Tyne Davis and Nelson (April) Billings, great grandchildren: Austin Billings and Johnathan Billings. He is also survived by his sisters: Mary McKay, Ruthann Dorsa, sister in law Lorraine Davis, brother in law Donald (Jean) Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Aaron Billings, siblings: Ellen (Emerson) Cladell, Kate (Art) Jury, Shirley (Bill) VanSycle, Dorsey Davis Jr., Chet (Betty) Davis, and Thelma (Jack) Ackerman. His brother in law Tom McKay also predeceased him.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center for caring so deeply for Richard, and a special thank you to Stacy.
