Richard J. Beck

Beck, Richard Hemlock, Michigan Passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 81 years. Richard was born January 17, 1933 in Sibley, Illinois, the son of the late George and Rhoda (Carlson) Beck. He married Patricia Teall August 21, 1954. She survives him. Richard was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, Hemlock, and past President of the Washington Society. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1990 as an electrician. Surviving besides his wife Patricia are their children: Diane (Paul) Schroeder; Chris (Lynda) Beck; Joanne Beck-Thorington and her fiance John; Kathy (Darren) Forbes; Cindy (Greg) Velez; ten grandchildren: Pete (Kristie) Cramton, Jon Beck, Will Bauer, Matthew (Holly) Thorington; Thomas Thorington, Jessica Thorington, Amanda Forbes, Kelsey Forbes, Morgan Velez and Madison Velez; four great-grandchildren: Caden and Beckett Cramton and Jack and Joelle Thorington; a sister, Donna (Dick) Gofton; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Richard was predeceased by four sisters and a brother; Alvin Pruitt, Annie Stenzel, Frances Michael, Phyllis Weber, and Mildred Blumke, The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12:00 noon Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Duane Wachowiak will officiate with burial in Richland Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Thursday from 2:00 8:00 p.m. where friends may join the family for a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at church Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
