Joined his beloved wife Pauline in Heaven on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the age of 90 years. The son of the late William and Artlett (Wright) Housner was born on March 15, 1928 in Saginaw. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Pauline Laviolette on November 29, 1952; she predeceased him on January 1, 2003. Richard retired from the State of Michigan in 1989 as a highway foreman. He volunteered his time with several organizations including: Pit and Balcony, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Marys of Michigan. Richard also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Surviving are his children: Linda (Howard) Rick, Peggy (Tim Richardson) Housner, Debra (Thomas) Johnstin, Richard (Patricia) Housner, Jr., Kathy (Steve) Walker, Diana (Jim) Tesorero, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, his brother, Fred (Barb) Housner, his sister Ann McAuley, and many relatives and friends. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev. Kristina Truhan will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cartwright Hospice Residence or Pit and Balcony.
