Richard Junior Ziembo

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather went home to the Lord, following a short illness on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the age of 94 years. Richard was born on January 30, 1927 to the late Thomas and Mary (Urban) Ziembo in Twining, Michigan. He attended St. Rita’s School. Richard worked as a farm hand until 1945 when he began serving in the United States Army. He honored our country from March of 1945 until December of 1946, serving in the Korean War.
Richard married Vonda Gerding of Chesaning on April 16, of 1952. They spent 62 years together before she passed on March 7, 2014. He was employed with Otto Taylor of Saginaw for many years. Richard retired from Bourdow Trucking in 1989 where he worked as an Operating Engineer. He worked hard at what he did, he loved his job and he never missed a day of work. Richard was a longtime member of St. Frances of Assisi (St. Anthony of Padua) and the Frankenmuth Conservation Club. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also known for his special dill pickle recipe that he canned and delivered to his family, friends and acquaintances each year.
Richard is survived by his children Mark (Sheryl) Ziembo, Lynn (Joe) Galganski, his grandchildren; Heather (Aaron) Boese, Kristen (David) Bonner, Zachary Ziembo, Alyssa (Jayson) Barrells and eight great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Harry Ziembo, Susan Noel and Kay (Jeff) Osier.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Chesaning Bible Baptist Church (811 S. Main Street, Chesaning, Michigan 48616). Pastor Walt Yeomans will officiate. Military honors will be rendered under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post 7302 Hemlock. Honoring Richard’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chesaning Bible Baptist Church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial donations to Chesaning Bible Baptist Church in honor of Richard.
