Richard Slancik Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital. Age 67 years. The son of the late Michael and Anne (Churnesky) Slancik was born October 29, 1945 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was employed by Shear Tool Company and later by General Motors, (Steering Gear- Delphi) retiring with over thirty years of service. He served with the Volunteer Fire Dept. in Carrollton Twp for 14 years. He enjoyed playing baseball and fast pitch softball, participating in leagues at Hoyt Park. He also bowled, golfed and was an avid billiard player. He coached Girls Softball at Carrollton High School for a short time. Surviving are a son and a daughter, Michael Slancik and his wife, Amy, Kalamazoo, MI; Suzanne Sharp, Midland, MI; four grandchildren, Trace and Avery Slancik; Courtney and Walker Sharp; his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Sally and Ron Fries; Shirley Wiles; Robert and Jean Slancik; John and Brenda Slancik; William and Sandy Slancik; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, James and Ronald Slancik, two sisters, Betty Schulz and Rosemary Frick have predeceased him. In accordance with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. John Langewisch will officiate.
