Passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the age of 83 years. The son of the late Oscar and Alma (St. Charles) Schmidt was born on May 4, 1933 in Saginaw. After his father's death, he was raised by his mother, Alma and step-father Louis Delgado, Sr. He married Delores Bell; she predeceased him. Richard worked at City Disposal as a manager for 20 years, then Scientific Brake & Equipment for 24 years as a service manager. After his retirement, he worked for Doc Heinz, driving the sweeper truck. He and his faithful dog, Walker, made the rounds sweeping parking lots 6 nights a week. Dick was a kind and compassionate man with many friends. He would do anything for anyone. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease his loved ones. He was an avid animal lover and couldn't bear to see any animal hurt or hungry. He frequently took in stray animals that appeared at his door; they must have known where he lived! Surviving are his fianc, Karen Stadler, his children: Michael Schmidt, Raymond Schmidt, Debra (Bill) Schmidt-Johnson, Victoria Schmidt, Greg Stadler, Sue Reynolds, Brian (Lisa) Stadler, 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, his sister: Lucille Bridges and a sisters-in-laws Lila Delgado and Bonnie Sackrider. He was predeceased by a son, Scott Stadler, his brothers: Oscar Schmidt, Jr., Louis Delgado, Jr., Joe Delgado and two sisters: Diane Delgado and Betty Delgado. Memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at the W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from noon until the time of the funeral service.
