Rick L. Weiss

Weiss, Rick L. Saginaw, Michigan Formerly of Bay City Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and dear friend, went to meet his father in Heaven, early Saturday. Rick passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2018, at the age of 50 years. He was born September 25, 1967, in Bay City, the son of the late Roy Weiss and Laura Weiss. He graduated from Bay City Western High School with the class of 1986, and later received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Michigan State University. He had been employed as a mechanical engineer with General Motors for the past 25 years. He married Michelle A. Burden on September 5, 1995; she survives him. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Amelith, and had served as a Trustee. He was a member of American Legion Post #22. He farmed the Weiss family farms, enjoyed gardening and camping. He enjoyed following the stock market and day trading. He also enjoyed playing poker. He was an avid MSU Spartan fan. Surviving are his wife, Michelle; one son, Mitchell Weiss; a step-son, Jeramey Bierlein; three sisters, Bonnie Weiss, Betty Weiss and Cathy Cann; his father-in-law, Clarence "Butch" (Cindie) Burden; sisters-in-law, Jenni (Rodney) Acker, Lisa (Jerrold Clairmont) Villareal, and Tracey (Bill) Mead; many nieces, nephews, and their families; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many dear friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Maxine Weiss, and by his mother-in-law, Patricia Meyer. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1664 Amelith Road. Rev. Stephen P. Starke will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, f rom 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
