Robert Arthur "Bob" Arnold, Sr.

Robert Arthur “Bob” Arnold of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, step grandfather, step great-grandfather, and step great-great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Shields Comfort Care in Saginaw. He was 97 years old. Robert Arthur Arnold was born on January 8, 1928, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Otto G. and Julia M. (Bauer) Arnold. He attended Arthur Hill High School. On April 11, 1946, while in the 11th grade, Bob felt the call of his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served at the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War until his honorable discharge on May 1, 1947. Bob met the love of his life, Donna Mae Murray, while attending a party with friends. They began dating, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 5, 1951, in Saginaw; she preceded him in death on December 4, 2002. He was employed with Rainbow Bread and later with FritoLay as a sales delivery driver and district manager in the Oscoda area, retiring in 1990 after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Upon his return to Saginaw, he and Donna settled in Thomas Township. He began working at R. B. Havens Elementary School where he was lovingly known as “Mr. Bob” serving the students their lunches and also assisted in food distribution. A faithful Lutheran his entire life, he was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and later St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Bob was also a member of American Legion Post #439. He bowled in two bowling leagues twice a week until 2020. Bob loved all types of music, riding his tractor, and meticulously keeping his lawn manicured. He will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his ability to communicate with all people, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful stories and memories.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Dale) Chinevere of Saginaw; three step grandchildren; four great-step grandchildren; three great-great step grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Marvin Murray of AZ; sister-in-law, Yvonne (Robert) Dennison of Saginaw. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Donna Mae Arnold; a son, Robert A. Arnold Jr.; a brother, Edgar (Dora) Arnold; a sister, Delores (Charles) Hill; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
