Robert (Bob) Lier

LIER, ROBERT (Bob) Saginaw, Michigan, Passed away peacefully on December 18, 2013, at his home. He was 73 years old. He was born December 7, 1940, the son of the late August and Elizabeth (Phillips) Lier. He married Judith Radtke on October 15, 1960. She predeceased him on September 20, 2001. Bob worked for the City of Saginaw Engineering Department for 32 years, retiring in 1995. Bob and Judy had two daughters, Leann Doehling (David) of Arlington, MN, and Julie Lightfoot (Paul) of Saginaw. Granddaughters Debbie Holdt (Steven), Mary and Amy Doehling, all of Arlington, MN. Grandsons Robert Lightfoot of Saginaw, Samuel and Benjamin Doehling of Arlington, MN. Sisters Minnie VanWormer (Terry) of Alamogordo, NM, Rosemary Lier of Saginaw, Brother James Lier (Nancy) of Hemlock, Michigan, and a brother Kenneth Lier (Linda) predeceased him in 2004. He also had several nieces and nephews. Bob remarried on May 21, 2004 to Barbara Spiess, with one step-daughter Amy Bates (William), and two step-granddaughters Brooke Bates and Amber Roth (Josh). He also had two step-great grandchildren Alexia and Gavin Roth. Bob enjoyed wood working, yard work and traveling. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (corner of Court Street and N. Bond Street), Saginaw. Rev. William Brassow will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit at W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 and at the church at 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of the service.
