Robert, Allen "BOB" Saginaw, Michigan The World's Greatest Bob was born September 19, 1948, to parents Lee Owen Allen and Hazel Marie (Campbell) Allen in Saginaw, Michigan. As he stumbled into this world, he fell right up the staircase and acquired a young wife along the way named Linda. They were married in 1967 and together they started a journey and a family. Bob was blessed with two children a daughter named Michelle, who adored him, and a son Shane, of whom he was very proud. Just when he thought he reached the top of that staircase, along came his pumpkinhead, Karyngton. She was the apple of his eye. He was also blessed with a grand dog named Tobey who recently went before him to meet him at the Pearly Gates.
Bob worked at GM for 35 years before stumbling out into retirement in 2001. He continued to stumble onward and upward all the while enjoying life. Over the years, he and his wife enjoyed hosting card parties in their home and camping with friends and family. Some of Bob's most cherished memories were of those spent with his close cousins of the Babcock family at deer camp. There he shared many stories and a lot of laughs.
Bob was known for his love of golf and even organized the Bob Allen Classic, a golf outing he put on for nearly 20 years, starting out with a group of 8 and growing into a group of 50 family and friends.
Bob also had an unusual love of ink pens and managed to acquire quite a collection over the years from various places he visited....doctors, dentists, banks, hotels and yes, even a funeral home.
Bob was known for driving a big truck and he drove it with the same precision he stumbled through life with. He ran into a lot of people everywhere he went. He even knew some of them.
Bob wore many hats, but one of his favorites was that of Santa. For nearly 10 years he entertained children at Lollipops Child Care Center and enjoyed bringing smiles to their faces. He couldn't wait for the children to tell them what they wanted from Santa. But the memory that stuck most in his mind was that of a young boy who anxiously awaited his turn to sit on Santa's lap and ask with great excitement, "Santa, do you like broccoli?!"
Bob fought his health battles very well and he never gave up. He had so much to live for that he just didn't have time for death or any other annoying circumstances. But on October 19, 2017, Bob finally got his balance in the loving arms of the Lord. Although he leaves behind two brothers, Willard Allen and Clifford (Pam) Allen, along with two special cousins, Emil V. Rick and Peggy Love and his daughter's fianc, Bill Favel, who hopes to fill his stumbling footsteps, he now walks straight as an arrow down streets of gold where he will be joined with his parents and two sisters, Twila Kniebbe and Linda Lagalo, and a very special sister in law, Janet Allen. Together they will celebrate until one day when we will all meet again. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday October 23, 2017 at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Mr. Leonard Babcock and Mr. Darryl Babcock Cousins of Bobs will officiate. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00p.m. and then on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church or The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, www.fwsf.org.
