Robert Kenneth Slancik,
Saginaw, Michigan
Robert K. Slancik, 84, husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Tuesday evening, November 3, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. Robert was born on December 20, 1935 in Saginaw to the late Michael and Anna (Churnesky) Slancik. He graduated from Saginaw High School, class of 1953. Robert served in the United States Air Force for two years during the Korean War.
Robert married Jean Yarmuth on April 29, 1967 in Saginaw. They were married for 53 years. He was employed as a welder for General Motors, retiring in 1999 after 42 years of service. Robert was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler. He and Jean have owned and operated Ridge Golf Course in Breckenridge, Michigan since 2008. Robert also enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife Jean, children: Kristie Slancik, Jeff (Lisa) Slancik, grandchildren: Jeremy, Maddyson, and Abigail Slancik, sisters: Shirley Wiles and Sally Fries, in laws, Charles Schulz, Connie Slancik, Brenda Slancik, Sandy Slancik and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his siblings and in laws, Betty Schulz, Rose (Chuck) Frick, Ronald Slancik, James (Patricia) Slancik, William Slancik, Richard Slancik, John Slancik, Garold Wiles and Ronald Fries.
A graveside service will be held at a later date to honor Robert’s life as well as a memorial service at Ridge Golf Course pending Covid- 19 regulations.
