Bowen, Robert L. Saginaw, MI Passed away early Wednesday, July 03, 2013, at his home. Age 86 years. He was born December 21, 1926, in Holly, Michigan, the son of the late Celia (Ashby) and William Rice Bowen. He graduated from Flint Central High School with the Class of 1943 and then served with the US Merchant Marines. On December 18, 1948, he married Geneva Jensen; she survives him. They made their home in Saginaw since 1952. As a young husband and father, he published a small newspaper, the Triple Town Advertiser. Bob had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone and the US Chamber of Commerce, but for most of his life, he was self-employed as a landlord and investor. For many years, he was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Bob was an avid fisherman, and an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. Surviving besides his wife Geneva are one son, three daughters and their spouses, Dane Bowen, Debbie and Patrick Mercer, Pam and Daryl Pawlick, and Stacy Seaman; eight grandchildren, Stephanie McConnell, William Bowen, Tricia and her husband Dan Merritt, Adam Mercer, Brandilyn and her husband Scott Hornlein, Drew Pawlick, Kyle Seaman and Courtney Seaman; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Gabe, Brody, Madison, Olivia, Duncan and Reilly; one sister, Jean and her husband Thomas Finch, and one brother, Donald Bowen; several nieces and nephews and their families. Memorial services will take place at 12:00 noon Friday, July 12, 2013, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where his family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate.
