Robert "Bob" Jones

Robert passed away on January 28, 2020 at Covenant Healthcare surrounded by his loving family. He was 64 years old. Bob was born on June 12, 1955 to Lowell Jones and Paula Abendroth in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Merrill High School, class of 1973. Bob later married Barbara Princinsky on November 7, 1987 in Saginaw. The two have shared 35 years together. Bob was employed as a mason with the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union, retiring in 2013. He is one of the founders of the Bridgeport Bandits Sports Association, which began over 10 years ago. Robert is also a member of St. Frances de Sales Parish, St. Christopher Catholic Church. Bob loved baseball, coaching, fishing, hunting, camping, reading (especially Westerns), and listening to classic country. Above all he loved playing with his grandchildren and will be remembered for being very social and well loved in the community. Surviving are his parents Lowell Jones and Paula (Terry) Abendroth; his wife Barbara; his children Corey Mahoney, Arthur (Betsy) Jones, Casey (Tina) Jones, and Michael Jones; and his grandchildren Alaina Mahoney, Neil Mahoney, Audrey Mahoney, Charlotte Mahoney, Zoey Morgan, and Josiah Jones. Bob is also survived by his siblings Linda (Ralph) Syers and Bruce (Amy) Jones as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his sister Carol Jones and his stepmother Sharon Jones. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Frances de Sales Parish, St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson Road, Bridgeport, Michigan. Fr. John Mancini OSFS will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at W.L. Case and Company, 5700 Dixie Highway, Bridgeport, Michigan from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
