Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019, at the Toni and Trish House, at the age of 87 years. The son of the late Otto and Nellie (Leace) Steltzriede was born on April 17, 1932 in Saginaw. Bob was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, class of 1951. He continued his education at Bay City Junior College, and served for four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Barbara Mohnk on October 18, 1958, in Saginaw. The couple shared 60 lovely years together.
Bob was employed as a machinist for Miller Mold where he retired with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Bob enjoyed camping, bike riding, baseball and basketball. He was an avid sports fan for many Michigan professional sport teams and loved to tailgate before some of their events. Bob especially loved to watch the Detroit Tigers as he relaxed at home with a Pepsi, ice cream and a bag of chips. Most of all, he was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Surviving besides his wife, Barbara are his children: Craig ( Chris) Steltzriede, Wendy (Doug) Schreiber, and Jeffrey (Brenda) Steltzriede; his grandchildren, Jessica Steltzriede, Kayley (Chris) John, Alex (Katie) Ruedger, Kevin Steltzriede, and Hanna Steltzriede; and his great grandchildren, Skye, Sullivan, and a third on the way. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his close friends, Frank and Shirley Trybulski, Al (deceased) and Pat Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Jack Steltzriede and his sisters, Dorothy Maturen and Jean Blodgett.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss St., Saginaw. Pastor Michael Korte will officiate. Burial will follow under the auspices of the United States Air Force and VFW Post #1859 at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at W. L.
