Robert "Bob" James Rogers, Sr.
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on his own terms and timing at 3:29 p.m. a quarter of a mile from Hemlock Road. To some it meant nothing, but to him it meant the world. Bob was born on May 4, 1946, in Brant, Michigan, to the late Leonard "Doc" and Mary Ann (Pease) Rogers. Bob was married to Mary L. Smith, and later married the love of his life, Mary Ann Jurstik. He adored both beyond measures and maintained a friendship with them until their deaths.
Bob had a passion for truck driving. His favorite truck being a Peterbilt he had driven for years at Wyatt Construction. He retired from Herbs Auto Salvage in Owosso, Michigan. Bob had many things he took pleasure in such as scrapping, antiquing, garbage picking, ambulance chasing, Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Show, restoring tractors, his Model T, Granny's Kitchen WWE, NASCAR, popping wheelies in his semi; however, spending time with his family and friends is what he LOVED the most. He had a smart mouth, was comical and compassionate, but most of all at the end of the day he was caring and loving. Bob also had an unwavering and strong faith in his Lord.
He held a special love for each and every one of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, additional family members, and friends. Bob was honored to be called "Papa" and treasured being a "Big Papa". He had a very special place in his heart and life for his grandson, Maverick Rogers, sister-in-law, Joann Rogers, and his son-in-law, Ben Benjamin. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Maria Jordan and Cindy Bauer for all the love and care they provided to Bob. Bob is survived by his nine children: Tim (Janet) Thomas, Hope (Tim) Callaway, Mark (Colleen) Truxell, Robert (Monica) Rogers Jr., Joseph (Yvette) Rogers, Dawn Rogers, Anna (Ben) Benjamin, John Rogers, Jeri Lynn (Jeff) Porath; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers: Sharon (Rick) Williams, Rosemary Rogers, Edward (Dianne) Rogers, Kenny (Lori) Rogers, and Judy (Curt) Price.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Mary Rogers; both former spouses, Mary L. and Mary Ann; daughter, Lori Mastaw; two brothers: Charlie Rogers and Roy Rogers; sister, Linda Carter; and two granddaughters: Amanda Truxell and Elizabeth Wilson.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 E. Saginaw Street, Merrill, MI, 48637. Rev.
