Rood, Robert Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Henry Ford Hospital at the age of 92 years. The son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Jones) Rood was born on January 30, 1922 in Bay City. He married Kathryn Minnet on January 29, 1946; she survives him. Robert served in the U.S. Marine's 1st Division, stationed in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He retired from the GM Transmission Plant in 1978. He was a member of the Bay City VFW, and the Masonic Lodge #77. Robert was an avid reader. Surviving besides his wife of 68 years, Kathryn are their children: Robert (Betty) Rood, Larry (Sharon) Rood, Ronald (Jill) Rood, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law: Lillian Rood and Shirley (Lee) Bratcher, and many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by a son Richard Alan Rood, his brothers: Joseph, Warren and George Rood, and his faithful companions Koko, Bleu Belle and Beau. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate with military honors. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the funeral chapel from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
