Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital. He was 66 years old. Robert Ruiz was born on September 2, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Jesus S. and Emma (Yaez) Ruiz. He graduated from Omni High School in Carrollton and Bangor Community to receive his certificate as a certified nursing assistant. Robert married Betty Lou Pea on October 19, 2002 in Bay City, Michigan at Liberty Baptist Church; she survives him. He was currently employed with Burt Watson Chevrolet of Freeland as a maintenance manager. Robert was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing his harmonica. Robert also enjoyed eating and his beloved dogs, Pilon and Chapo. Above all, he loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his compassions, strong work ethic, and his intelligence wisdom and faith in God.
Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Betty Lou Ruiz of Saginaw; a daughter and four sons, Virginia (Tyson) Blackburn of Tulsa, OK; Robert (Regina) Ruiz, Jr. of Warren, OH; Michael Lee Garcia of Saginaw; Ruben "Juju" Flores of Saginaw; and Robert Jesus (Theresa) Ruiz of Saginaw; a step-daughter, Cody Stasiak and step-son, Agustine Pea of Saginaw; 20 grandchildren, Emilio Rodriguez and Elijah Rodriguez of Tulsa, OK; Crystal Morales of Warren, OH; Teena (Tim) Bird of Rockford, IL; Santino (Diana) Ruiz of Warren OH; Angel Ruiz of Akron, OH; Roberta Ruiz; Jessica Ruiz; Ezekiel Ruiz; and Moriah Ruiz all of Warren, OH; Sierra Garcia; Miguel Garcia; Santino Garcia; Malena Garcia; Alyssa Garcia; and Romeo Garcia all of Saginaw; Mariah Ruiz; Marissa, Ruiz; and Santino Ruiz all of Saginaw; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers, Jessica Gomez of Saginaw; Margaret (Henry) Martinez of Saginaw; Sylvia (Joe) Ortiz of Saginaw; Rebecca (Ramiro) Santoya of Saginaw; Emmylou Ortiz of San Antonio, TX; Rolando Ruiz and his partner, Robert Shepard of Bay City; Jimmy (Sally) Ruiz of Saginaw; and Ricardo (Lisa Wajer) Ruiz of Bay City; a half brother, Jesse Vincente of TX; and mother-in-law, Juanita Botello. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Jesse "Meme" Ruiz and Rachael Ava Ruiz; and a father-in-law, David Joe Botello.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Roberts caregivers, a special nephew, Ruben Martinez, sister, Rebecca Santoya, and brother, Rolando Ruiz for all the love and care they provided, they were truly his angels.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, 2400 King Road, Saginaw. Pastor J.D. Howe will officiate. Honoring Roberts wishes cremation will follow. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Ruiz Family c/o Betty Ruiz.
