Robert Schwannecke

Robert Schwannecke Saginaw, Michigan Went to be home with the Lord Sunday December 8th 2013, age 90 years. Robert was born January 20th 1923 In Saginaw. He is the son of the late Arthur E. Schwannecke and Clara (Heausler) Schwannecke. He married Jacquelyn Fuller on January 17, 1959; they celebrated 51 years of marriage. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. He was an owner of Self Serve Lumber since 1954 and worked there for over 55 years until he retired in 2010. He was a professional jazz pianist since the age of 16 and performed throughout Michigan and Florida. He enjoyed playing golf and even has a hole in one to his credit. Bob and Jackie wintered in Sebring, Florida. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His wife Jackie preceded him in death in 2010. He will be deeply missed by their children: son Kurt R. (Elizabeth) Schwannecke, Saginaw; daughter Gayl T. (Brian) Winkowski, Gladwin; son Todd G. (Lynn) Schwannecke, Saginaw; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) Schwannecke, Grand Rapids; Jason (Erika) Schwannecke, Northville MI; Kristin (Brock) Brockway, Chicago IL; Megan (Brad) Whelton, Freeland; Jeff (Alex) Jones, Detroit; Matt Winkowski, Detroit; and Brice Schwannecke, Saginaw; six great grandchildren; a sister; Frances Hatch and brother, William (Magdalene) Schwannecke; numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St. Saginaw. Rev. Marcel Portelli will officiate. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may then call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
