Roland H. Gaeth was born on April 11, 1927, in Unionville, Michigan, to the late Otto and Helen (Gettel) Gaeth. He was a proud 1945 graduate of Unionville High School. Following graduation, Rollie attended Bay City Business College. On March 1, 1946, following the end of World War II, Rollie answered the call of his country by bravely enlisting in the United States Army. While in the military, Rollie and the former Ruth Roller, a high school classmate, began exchanging letters. Upon his honorable discharge, he and Ruth began dating, fell in love, and were united in marriage on September 2, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Sadly Ruth, the love of his life, unexpectedly passed away on July 25, 1993. Rollie worked for Ford dealerships within the Unionville area. He was also employed by and retired from Deisler Funeral home becoming a guiding light to those families he served. He was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Unionville, where he volunteered in decorating the church every Christmas. Rollie enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, and collecting antiques. He was kind, caring, compassionate, and had the natural ability to connect with all people. Rollie was outgoing and well known throughout the community and was given the honorary unofficial title of Mayor of Unionville. Rollie made friends wherever he went and the camaraderie they shared during his daily coffee hours were legendary. Rollie loved and cherished his family, church, and community. As Rollie always tried to remember everyones name, let us forever remember how profound and priceless he was to all that ever loved him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Wellspring for all the love, care, and compassion they provided to Rollie.
