Ronald C. Richey
Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved brother and friend passed away on December 18, 2024 at Covenant Health Care at the age of 75 years.
The son of the late William and Clare (Gaertner) Richey, Ron was born on January 4, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Bridgeport High School with the class of 1967. Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army in June 1968 and served in an Artillary Unit in Vietnam from November 1968 until November 1969. He earned the rank of SP4 E-4 during his service and recieved numerous medals and badges. In June of 1974, Ron completed his service and received an honorable discharge. He worked at Kurek Tool and GM plants in both Saginaw and Lansing until his health forced him to retire. Ron enjoyed traveling and collecting a wide variety of items in the first few years after his retirement.
He leaves behind his sister and her family: Carol and Alex Barnett, Tim and Stacy Barnett, Deanna and Rob Gullett; great-nieces and nephews: Kylie Barnett, Gavin Barnett, Alex Gullett, and Theo Gullett. Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Richey and Kenneth Richey.
Honoring Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at Covenant Health Care for their excellent care and compassion during Ron's final day and the doctors and nurses at the Saginaw VA Hospital for their years of trying to help Ron live a healthier life. Also a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living for their care, tolerance, and most of all their friendship to Ron during the two years he lived there.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Wounded Warriors Project and Tunnel 2 Towers, as both do so much for our veterans who gave so much.
