Roy Frederick Burdo of Hemlock
Passed away at his home on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022. He was born on February 27th, 1936, to the late Albert & Beulah (Graham) Burdo, and was a graduate of Hemlock High School. It was there at Hemlock High that he met Joyce Doyle, who would become the love of his life. Roy would marry his high school sweetheart on August 4th, 1956, and they would spend nearly 66 cherished years together. She survives him. During his working years, he was a Work Supervisor in the Instruments Department at Dow Chemical. Roy loved the outdoors, enjoying golfing and spending time at deer camp. He also played and umped baseball. Most important to Roy was his faith. He was an active attendant of St. Peter Lutheran church, where he sang in the choir and held numerous responsibilities. Roy is remembered for his happy, easy-going nature, strong faith, and dedication to the family he so loved.
Roy is survived by children Michelle & Robert Dankert, Carol & Russ Darby, David & Crystal Burdo, and Michael & Joy Burdo; grandchildren Matt Dankert & Dee Dee Boyd, Rachel & Kyle Smith, James Darby, Joseph & Lyndsey Darby, Katie & Michael Smith, Sean Burdo, Ryan Burdo & Michaela Maul, Amy & Joe Burch, Jenny Warner, and Robert & Abby Burdo; seventeen great grandchildren; brother Donald & Rosemary Burdo; and sister-in-law Dorothy Burdo; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by sister Shirley Hall; brother Robert Burdo; and twin brother Ray Burdo.
Funeral service for Roy will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, July 7th at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd. Hemlock, Rev. Richard Mundt presiding. Visitation will take place from 2:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, July 6th at W.L. Case Funeral Home, 201 N. Miller Rd. Saginaw. Burial is to follow at Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Those wanting to make a show of sympathy may wish to contribute to St. Peter Lutheran Church Building on the Cornerstone.
