Johnson, Roy M. Saginaw, MI Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother went to see the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the age of 85. Roy was born July 18, 1927, in Saginaw to the late Martin "Roy" and Helen (Wohlfeil) Johnson. He lived on the same property for his entire life. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1945; and still served as treasurer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In his younger years he worked for Morley's and was a member of the "Morley Gang". He worked as a tax assessor for Saginaw Township. He went on to work as an independent appraiser for Urban & Associates until his retirement. Roy was devoted to the Lord and active in Gethsemane Lutheran Church. At church he was a member of the School Board and was Vice-President of the Voters Council. He was a life-member of the Germania Club. He was also a member of the Fordney Club, the Rotary Club where he received the ROGER service award, and American Legion Post 439. He enjoyed playing cards. He married Gloria (Anklam) Byers on May 5, 2002, she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Sue (Tony) Stempky and Barbara (John) Snyder; step-children, Dorothy (Brian) Louks, Dr. Laura (Randolph) Flechsig, and Herbert (Pam) Byers; grandchildren, Joseph Stempky, Laura Stempky, Katherine (Alex Kennedy) Snyder, Mary Elizabeth Snyder, Jamie Snyder, Martha (Arthur) Williams, Aaron (Shannon) Louks, Harrison Flechsig, Clayton Flechsig, Donovan Sandrey, and Dylan Sandrey; 2 great-grandchildren; his sister, Colleen (William) Shelson; and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church 3412 Crestmont Dr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gethsemane Lutheran Church 3412 Crestmont Dr. Saginaw, MI 48603 or to the Wounded Warriors PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. www.casefuneralhome.com
