Roy Neil Newton Birch Run, Michigan (formerly of Chesaning, MK) Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and brother went to be with his Lord, Monday, February 3, 2014. Age 91 years. The son of the late Arthur and Iva (Baker-Rogers) Newton was born October 7, 1922 in Chesaning, Michigan. He married Alice Lorraine Pretzer, August 4, 1946. She passed away, September 5, 2002. Roy engaged in farming in the Chesaning area for many years and retired from General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear, with 15 years of service. He was formerly an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the church's activities. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing for perch. Surviving are a daughter and two sons, Karen Pringle, Hemlock, MI; Clifford R. Newton and his fianc, Sue Matthes, Birch Run, MI; Robert J. Newton, Saginaw, MI; his daughter-in-law, Beverly Newton, Hemlock MI; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Cathy and Patrick Anaman, Hemlock, MI; Trina and Gary Frick, Novi, MI; Michelle Hart, Jeffery Newton both of Saginaw, MI; Teresa and Paul Kayden, Freeland, MI; Lori Newton, Valerie Newton, Hemlock; William Newton, Wolverine, MI; Gregory Newton, N.C. and Katherine Jo Newton, Saginaw, MI; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a brother, Leslie Newton, Houghton Lake, MI; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roland and Miriam Pretzer, CO; Irene Bronner, Frankenmuth, MI; Lorretta and Rollie Bessinger, Muskegon, MI; Evelyn Pretzer, Hemlock, MI; Marlene Pretzer, GA; many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was also predeceased by his son, Dean; his son-in-law, Paul Pringle; a grandson, Carl Hart, a great grandson, Remington Lake; his brothers, Howard and Raymond Newton; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Delbert Pretzer; Donald Pretzer, Charles Turgeon, Wally Bronner; Irene Newton and Viola Turgeon. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4241 Willliamson Rd. Bridgeport. Rev. William W. Hessler will officiate. Private family interment will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeland. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and then on Thursday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
