Passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022. Age 81 years.
The son of the late Milda Grace (Duby) and Lloyd George Smewing was born August 3, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Saginaw High School and attended Delta College. Roy was a member of Chesaning United Methodist Church. He was self-employed as a builder for many years and also worked for General Motors, Delphi. Roy enjoyed gardening and was a Master Gardener. He was also a beekeeper.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Randy (Cheryl Craig) Smewing; Brian (Becky) Smewing; Heather (Mike) Vanfleteren; five grandchildren, Zachary Smewing, Justin Smewing, Danielle Vanfleteren, Devon (Devin) Vanfleteren, Dakota Vanfleteren; a great granddaughter, Cora Vanfleteren; two sisters, Nancy Mclean and Jeanne Firmingham; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Larry and James Smewing, have predeceased him.
The funeral service will take place at 2 :00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Janine Plum will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with family from Noon Thursday until the time of the funeral service. www.casefuneralhome.com
