Rudy Delgado of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 76 years old. Rudy Delgado was born on October 27, 1947, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Gonzalo and Ignacia (Gutierrez) Delgado. He met the love of his life, Antonia Vasquez, while at the movies. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 11, 1966; she survives him. Rudy was employed at General Motors as an assembly line worker, retiring in 2000 after 25 years of loyal and dedicated service. A family man to his core, Rudy loved nothing more than being the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he could be. It was his life's passion to love every member of his family. He relished the times he was able to play sports with his children and grandchildren, especially baseball. Rudy cheered for all the Michigan teams, but he was an avid Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan fan. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed bowling and was the master of cooking on the grill. He was of the Catholic Faith and a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Living Faith Family Ministeries. Rudy found peace and tranquility sitting in his garage listening to his Mexican Music and watching the neighborhood. Though he loved all animals, he held his dogs: Buddy, Papi, and Able, close to his heart. He leaves his indelible mark in this world though his wonderful sense of humor, his ability to befriend and selflessly love everyone with his big heart, for being a role model and mentor to many, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Antonia Delgado of Saginaw; four children: Linda Delgado of Saginaw; Ruby Ann Delgado of Saginaw; Rudy Delgado Jr.; and Joseph Delgado of Texas; five grandchildren: Michael Delgado; Julia (AJ Bass) Delgado; Crystal Delgado, Rudy "JJ" Delgado III; Daniel (Jasmine Colier) Cavazos Jr.; five great-grandchildren: Layla Garcia; Aubri Delgado; Laci Delgado; Daniel "Chato" Cavazos III; Dominic Cavazos; a brother-in-law, Joe Vasquez; three sisters-in-law, Vera (Roy) Gallardo; Oralia (Raymond) Torrez; Olga Vasquez; and his childhood best friend, Joe Jimenez. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gonzalo and Ignacia Delgado; great-grandson, Andrew Bass Jr.; one sister, Margaret; and four brothers, Manuel, Raymond, Peter, and Larry; mother-in-law, Margaret Vasquez; father-in-law, Joe Vasquez; and a brother-in-law, Frank Vasquez.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Covenant HealthCare 3rd Floor CCU for all the love and care they provided to Rudy and the entire family.
